15-year-old Noongar-Yamatji boy Cassius Turvey was brutally beaten in a racially motivated attack on his way home from school on October 13 2022. He died ten days later. The WA police commissioner commented that he was “in the wrong place at the wrong time” which was offensive, and wrong. He died because of deeply-held, ongoing racism against First Nations people in our country. All our children should be safe to walk home from school.
